About Omnium

Who we are.How we work.

Who we are

We advise UK non-domestic organisations on how they buy energy and water, what their sites actually use, and which compliance regimes apply to them. Every recommendation is written against meter and invoice data we hold, and every figure carries its source.

We are a Certified B Corporation, which holds us in law to weigh social and environmental performance alongside profit.

  • Our clients

Our commission is shown on the rate, so you can see what we are paid.

  • Our people

A small senior team, trained and accountable for the work they sign off.

  • Our planet

Consumption reduction and compliance work sit alongside procurement.

What we are for

  • Vision

A market where an organisation buys energy and water on its own metered evidence, rather than on the word of whoever telephoned it last. Every figure we put in front of a client carries its source and the date it was last checked, so a decision can still be examined years afterwards.

  • Mission

To record every meter an organisation holds, manage the contracts and the consumption behind them, and set out what changed in figures a finance team can audit. Where we cannot demonstrate a benefit from the data, we say so.

How we are appointed and paid

No cold calls, no hidden uplift and no authority to sign on your behalf. Both sides of the commercial arrangement are set out below.

  1. How we are appointed

    • We have no sales team and we do not cold call.
    • Clients come through people who already work with us, and through professional firms who introduce their own clients.
    • Where a referral partner introduces work, their fee is paid from our margin. It is not added to your rates.
  2. How we are paid

    • On every energy contract we place we are paid either by a margin on the final unit rate, or by a fixed management fee invoiced directly.
    • Whichever applies is agreed in writing before the contract is signed.
    • We hold a Level 1 Letter of Authority only. It lets us gather your data and approach the market. You sign every contract yourself.

The government confirmed in October 2025 its intention for Ofgem to regulate third party intermediaries in the retail energy market, including registration and fit and proper person criteria. That is an intention rather than current law, and the detail is still being consulted on.

Governance and accreditation

Responsibility

  • Reducing impact

We read half hourly and billing data before we recommend anything. Waste that can be removed without capital spend is dealt with first, and a project is only put forward where the metered figures support it.

  • Ethical practices

Our fee basis is agreed in writing before a contract is signed. We hold a Level 1 Letter of Authority only, so you sign every contract yourself, and we will not describe a supply as renewable without a named backing mechanism in writing.

  • Community engagement

Our Knowledge sheets are published openly, with the source and verification date on each one, so an organisation can check a regulatory position without appointing anybody. We hold Certified B Corporation status, which commits us in law to weigh social and environmental performance alongside profit.

Act On Energy

Act On Energy is our corporate charity partner. The charity gives free, impartial energy advice to households and to the organisations that support them, and works with businesses, councils and community groups across its area.

Our part of that partnership is the same work we do for clients: reading meter and invoice data, checking contracts and setting out in writing what the figures support. Details of the charity, including how to reach its advice line, are published on its own site.

Act On Energy has posted its own account of the work on its news pages. We link to it rather than restate it, so the wording and any figures in it stay the charity’s own.

Chris Spires, Omnium

Chris Spires

Co-Founder and Commercial Director

Twenty years working out why estates overpay.

Chris co-founded Omnium with Nicola in 2023, after twenty years in UK energy spent mostly working out why large estates pay more than they should. Before Omnium he handled strategic procurement and contract negotiation across industrial and commercial portfolios, with the deepest ground in hospitality, where the cost of getting energy wrong shows up fastest.

At Omnium he runs the commercial side: procurement strategy, supplier negotiation and the awkward conversations. He is also the reason the commission goes on the rate.

Nicola Carter, Omnium

Nicola Carter

Co-Founder and Director

Thirteen years in banking. Now she reads the contracts.

Nicola spent thirteen years at HSBC and then moved to NatWest as a senior business manager, so she read commercial agreements for a living long before she read energy ones. After banking came nearly a decade running operations for an estates business in Wiltshire, which is where the property side comes from.

She co-founded Omnium with Chris in 2023 and holds the contracts: terms, agreements and the paperwork that decides what happens when something goes wrong. She reads the customer information document before the main terms, because that is where the rates live and it governs where the two disagree.

When Chris is with clients, Nicola holds the relationships, so a question does not wait a week for an answer.

Sabina Jones, Omnium

Sabina Jones

Commercial Partnerships Director

Eight years pricing contracts from the supplier's side.

Sabina spent eight years as a business development manager at PE Solutions, and before that three years at ista managing client relationships in metering and billing. So she has seen how a supplier prices a contract from the inside, which is a useful thing to have on the other side of the table.

At Omnium she leads new business alongside account management, which in a firm that grows by referral turn out to be the same job. Multi-site groups where the contracts sit across several entities, renewals that need starting a year out, and the introducer relationships that bring most of our work through the door.

Her measure is that a client knows where they stand without having to ask.

Sian Pope, Omnium

Sian Pope

Head of Operations

Runs the data, and says when it is not good enough.

Sian came to Omnium in 2023 from THIS Workspace, where she was operations manager. Running a shared workspace means knowing exactly what a building costs to keep open, and where that cost quietly grows when nobody is watching, which turns out to be the same question we ask of every client site.

She runs the data. Half-hourly meter readings, load profiles, agreed capacity, and the overnight figures that show a site drawing power at three in the morning for no reason anyone can name.

If a finding has a number attached, Sian has checked it. She is also the one who says when the data is not good enough to draw a conclusion from, which is the harder call and the more useful one.

Rakesh Devabhai, Omnium

Rakesh Devabhai

Commercial Growth Lead

Has seen this market from all three sides.

Rakesh has seen this market from all three sides. Five years as a senior energy consultant at Assured Energy, then two at Ecotricity, where he spent nine months as TPI manager, which means managing brokers from inside a supplier. Then ElectraLink, the organisation that sits at the centre of UK energy market data, working alongside Ofgem, DESNZ, suppliers and the distribution networks.

He joined Omnium in 2026 to build new client relationships across hospitality, industrial and commercial property, and to lead our ESOS work.

Having watched how intermediaries behave from the supplier's side of the desk is useful preparation for a firm that shows its commission on the rate. His approach is the same as everyone else here: set out what applies, set out what does not, and let the client decide.

Beth Carter, Omnium

Beth Carter

Compliance and Training Manager

Keeps the operation honest.

Beth ran a learning centre before she came to Omnium, latterly as Centre Director, which turns out to be good preparation for a job that is mostly about making sure people do things properly and consistently.

She keeps the operation honest: invoicing, filing, the referral cycle, and the quality management behind our ISO 9001 certification. Most of it is invisible when it is working. Contracts filed where they can be found, invoices checked before they are paid, deadlines caught before they become problems.

What we will not do

  1. We will not tell you a supplier has fixed network charges unless we hold their written confirmation for that product.

  2. We will not describe a supply as renewable without a named backing mechanism in writing.

  3. We will not present a cost rise as a saving.

  4. We will not state a government proposal as though it were law.

  5. We will not recommend a project that our own figures do not support.
