What it shows
Seven views, from the whole estate down to one meter on one site.
Your estate, and each site within it
Electricity, gas and water across every site you operate. An estate view with totals and a league table ranking sites by year on year change, and a single site view for working through one building in detail.
Consumption over time
Monthly and annual trend, seasonality across every year on file, and year on year variance month by month with the totals beneath.
Readings entered by your team
Meter readings, occupancy and on-site generation, entered by the people who are on site. Readings can be submitted to your supplier from the same screen.
Cost
Indicative cost derived from the rates held against each meter, shown against the prior year and cumulatively through the year. It is ex-VAT and not bill-validated, and the platform says so on the panel and tells you how many meters it could compute.
Carbon
Emissions on both a market basis and a location basis, side by side, with the factor basis named on each.
Contract and compliance position
Which meters are out of contract, which renew within twelve months, and which have no end date on file. Site EPC or DEC rating with expiry warnings, and the electricity and gas network the site sits on.
Intensity
Consumption per occupied room and per square metre, so a busier month is not mistaken for a worse one.
About the data
Insights holds three kinds of data, and they behave differently.
Half-hourly meter data
For half-hourly electricity meters, consumption arrives from the settlement process after the period it covers. A reading is also not final when it first arrives: estimated reads are replaced by actual reads later, and figures move when they are. We show which reads are estimated and which are actual.
Meter reads you enter
You can enter your own reads for any meter, including gas, water and meters that are not half-hourly. That is how sites without half-hourly data get a usable consumption picture, and it is often the fastest route to spotting a problem on a smaller site.
Information you add
You can record site-level information alongside the consumption, so the numbers sit next to the context that explains them.
What the platform will not do
A figure is only useful if you know what it rests on. Four things the platform refuses to do.
It will not treat a missing month as a zero. A gap is shown as a gap.
It will not compare a part-year against a full year. Comparisons are like for like, and the months included are named on the chart.
It will not calculate a year on year figure from data that is under review. It suppresses the number and says why.
It will not present indicative cost as a validated bill.
Where a figure changes after we have shown it to you, that is the data being corrected rather than the platform being unreliable. We would rather show you the position as it stands and tell you what it rests on.
Access
Every Omnium client has access to Insights. It is part of how we work rather than a product we sell separately, and there is no charge for it.
Some additional features are chargeable. Where one is, it is priced and agreed before you use it. Nothing is charged for by default and nothing switches on quietly.
