Replacing older lighting with LED reduces the lighting load and, in a conditioned space, some of the cooling load that lighting creates. It is usually the most straightforward project on a site because it changes one thing.

Where the saving comes from
Older fluorescent, halogen and discharge lighting converts a large share of the energy it draws into heat rather than light. LED does not, so the same light level costs less to produce.
The size of the reduction depends entirely on what is being replaced. A site already on modern fittings has little to gain. A site on old discharge lighting running long hours has a great deal. We will not put a percentage on your site before we have seen what is in it.
Controls usually matter as much as the fittings. Occupancy sensing, daylight dimming and zoning add further reduction, particularly in intermittently occupied or naturally lit spaces, and are often cheaper than the lamps.
The specification is the project
Status: LawKitchens, back of house areas and workplaces are covered by lighting standards that a like-for-like swap can quietly fail. A fitting that draws less and produces less light is not a saving, it is a downgrade with a lower bill attached.
A quotation without fittings, circuit loads, output levels, colour temperature, control gear, warranty terms and the relevant standard is not comparable to another quotation. We write the specification so that it is, and we ask for those lines priced separately.
On payback
We do not publish a payback range for LED. It depends on the fittings being replaced, the hours they run, the installed cost at your site and whether controls are included.
Where we model it, we show the range around the central case rather than a single number, because installed performance varies with how the site actually runs.
Who does the work
Omnium does not carry out installation. We scope the work, write the specification, put contractor quotations side by side on the same basis, model the case and manage delivery. The installation is carried out by qualified contractors who hold the relevant accreditations for that trade.
